Wright’s Company of Grenadiers is an organization of men and women made up of  professional historians and reenactors, dedicated to accurately portraying the life and times of the common soldiers and camp followers who fought for control of North America during the French & Indian War as Grenadiers of the 1st Regiment of Foot.

Our aim is to educate and entertain the public, while at the same time to commemorate the service and heritage men and women gave to their country and ours over 250 years ago.  Furthermore, our organization is proud to represent in particular the men and women who served in or followed the 1st Regiment of Foot.

Known as the “Royals” and nicknamed “Pontius Pilate’s Bodyguard,” the regiment holds the coveted position at the right of the line, as it is the oldest surviving regiment in the British army and is the senior regiment of infantry, being formed in 1633.

Known today as the Royal Scots, the 1st of Foot is still a serving British regiment, which last saw combat in the 1991 Gulf War to free Kuwait.  Currently, the Regiment is fighting to retain its individual identity, as it is scheduled to be amalgamated with many other Scottish regiments to create “The Royal Regiment of Scotland.”
